Lowa Lady Light GTX Boots

Finding the right pair of boots for hiking can be a bit of a minefield for me; I have been that person who just stands and stares at the display, open mouthed at the wide and varied selection, not knowing where to start. I’ll inevitably pick about 3 or 4 pairs based on design first, but do try to be as sensible as possible when it comes to the actual fit. The Lowa Lady Light GTX boots certainly look the part.

The upper is made from nubuk leather, and the design is slim and neat with a decent sturdy, grippy sole.  The GORE-TEX® lining provides waterproof and breathable comfort with climate control insoles.

The boot is extremely light weight which was an instant tick in the box, and the sizing was spot on; when trying on for the first time my foot felt secure and comfortable.

The official write up on this boot states that it has been designed for women with sensitive feet; providing more room in the metatarsal area and toe box. I was particularly interested by this as I have suffered in the past when walking downhill, even after trying several different lacing techniques.

Lowa have designed this boot with limited interior stitching for added comfort and less risk of abrasion and they also boast a ‘buttery soft cuff’ for added comfort; sounds more and more desirable to me as I read on..!

The Lowa Lady Light GTX boots incorporate the X-lacing system, which I love. This boot has flat ribbon lace loops with an additional stud situated on the tongue allowing you to evenly distribute the fit, securely keeping your foot locked in a comfortable position.

My first few outings wearing my new Lowa boots were just a sensible stretch out with the dog around the local park to get used to the fit and wear them in a little before heading off to the hills.

This proved a success, after about five minutes of walking I had already forgotten I was wearing new boots as they felt so familiar and comfortable; no rubbing and most importantly, no blisters!

I was confident with the fit so decided to risk a longer hike out after only a few trial runs of dog walking, although I will admit I did double check that I had the Compeed plasters with me, just in case.

I’m very happy to report that I suffered no issues whatsoever. The boots faired really well with the varied terrain we encountered; it was a hot day so I am yet to test their waterproofing, but on the flip side my feet didn’t suffer with being too hot either.

I will definitely be choosing these boots for my next venture out. Overall I’m very impressed with them.
